The server version 1.3 has been released for linux which is now finally seeming to be stable and bug free, so its time to dust off the camo gear and get in the bushes (or alternatively run around like a madman with an ak-47 spraying wildly). Either way, its CoD4 time :)
With the latest Ventrilo release we've updated our servers to version 3, here's the link to DOWNLOAD. The changes made are too numerous to list, but you can view the changelog here.
Basically there are a few new features bringing it more in-line with the control offered by Teamspeak whilst keeping arguably better codecs and voice quality, as well as a sprinkling of bug fixes.
We've also recently had a little overhaul of our voice prices, lowering them a little across the board, remaining as one of the most competitive and aggressively priced voice hosts in the UK, whilst maintaining our high quality hosting :)
Well after all the hype surrounding it, CSPromod was finally released yesterday. Our control panel has now been updated and we have this available for customers, the order form has also been updated to include a CSPromod order option.
I'm off to actually try it out now, I hear its no 1.6 *yet* but apparently big things are in store, mustn't forget it is still in beta stage though :)
As some of the World in Conflict players may have noticed, we recently acquired ranked status for Massive's gem of a game. If you haven't tried it yet then I suggest you get on it, it's already critically acclaimed with some of the best reviews around, and here at Dustworld HQ we've been spending a lot of time on the servers ourselves ( I was up to 400th of 40,000 at one point! )

Tonight we've moved our Ventrilo servers onto our own gaming network, which should mean better pings and reliability for everyone! As a result of this though our ventrilo.dustworld.net DNS will take up to 24 hours to resolve, in the mean time you can change the IP to 193.238.84.101, your port will remain the same.
After some careful consideration we've decided to partner with riYp.co.uk, who we can recommend for clan website hosting. A few details about them follow, but for a more indepth rundown please check out their site!

Customers may be experiencing trouble loading steam and servers restarted may not come back due to Valves steam servers currently being down. The steam servers are located in Seattle where they are currently experiencing a massive power outage due to bad weather conditions. We will keep you updated.
A steam-update was released this evening for all source engine based games.
Source Engine: - Added new cl_restrict_server_commands to prevent unwanted commands being run on game clients. The default value is 1, valid settings are: 0 = Don't restrict any server commands. 1 = Restrict server commands in Valve multiplayer games. 2 = Restrict server commands in all multiplayer games. - Decreased startup time in some cases by rate-limiting the packets sent to clients during logon - Improved responsiveness when entering map areas with lots of entities by automatically compressing large packet updates.
Unfortunatly the update has broken a few plugins. Mainly Zblock.
To join a Zblock enabled server you will need to have cl_restrict_server_commands 0 in your config.
Also some of the functionality of Mani has stopped working. We will be watching the mani website for an update and will have it on the control panel as soon as possible.
If your server has not been automatically updated please log into our control panel, stop your server and select the update option. This will automatically update your server. When this has finished just right click on your server and select "Start" to start it again.
We have now completed the beta stage of our Dustworld OS v1.
Dustworld OS : Having found performance issues with generic Linux builds we have had our own Operating System developed. This gives much better performance for the gaming servers we run on it. Customers are able to run 4 x 1000fps Source servers on their boxes giving the absolute best performance possible. Game Servers running on our new OS feel consistantly smooth with bullet reg usually only found on Lan with 1 server per box. This is all acheived with lower CPU usage than standard Linux distributions. Dont believe us, trial a 1000fps 32 man source server at this IP : 193.238.84.107:27015, Note this server is currently ranked gamespy uk #1 (was a new server 2 weeks ago).
Dustworld Control Panel : Our Control Panel has come on leaps and bounds in the last few weeks. Dedicated Server customers are now able to install any game they wish onto their boxes at the click of a button. They are also able to install the mods available for these games. Mani-Mod, CSDM, AMX-Mod, Event Scripts etc are all available to install on your server at the click of a button. We have also made available Mod Plugins such as "High Ping Kickers, CSDM, Rate Manager, GoreMod, Zombie mod etc." Again these install at the click of a button meaning you can spend less time setting up your server and more time gaming.
Network : Recently NTL enabled our direct peer allowing NTL customers to see some of the best latency possible on our servers. With some of the lowest pings in the UK and zero lag we are confident we now offer the best gaming experience.
SGL : Dustworld continue to support theSGL and have provided another Dual Processor box to enable more matches to take place. Check out the new features, if you have a private or public server you can add mods / match configs / drax maps / competition maps in a flash. Just turn your server off, right click and go to 'mods', choose your mod and press 'install'. If you have a dedcicated server you can install / delete your own servers with a click of a button. Fantastic for the resellers out there.

There have been a great deal of problems with BF2CC since the 1.4 patch was released. Some of the main problems were with profiles becoming corrupt and resulting in a dead server. They have now released an update that should resolve all these issues.
We are currently in the process of rolling out the update, please bear with us. If your server hasnt been updated by the end of today please contact us at support@dustworld.net with your server IP.
The long awaited 1.4 patch was released for battlefield 2 today. The patch includes a lot of new features and bug fixes including increased server stability and a new map. All our battlefield2 servers will be automatically updated, If any servers are not updated please contact an admin and we will update it for you.
A new Battlefield 2 mod has recently been released called "Point of Existence 2". Having played it for a few hours yesterday evening I can say i am very impressed. The guns are much improved making the game feel more playable. The game also seems to run much better on medium spec hardware than BF2 itself.
If you have BF2 and would like to trial the game out the files can be downloaded from us here . There is also a server up with a selection of what we think are the best maps (Fallen, Orel and Dnipro Sunrise). The server can be found on this ip and port : 193.238.84.48:16617 or click for hlsw. We have applied the temporary fix that is available and will be watching out for a new release by Mani to properly resolve the issue. The have also been reports of custom maps not working properly. CPL Fire and Mill seem to work fine but Contra does not. We have not managed to check any others.

Our Secure Online Credit / Debt Card payment gateway is now live. We are now able to accept all major Credit and Debt cards via our secure online payment system. We hope this will streamline payments, making it easier for our customers now not requiring to sign up to paypal.
To pay via the new system simply select "Pay Bill" in the control panel system and choose "Credit / Debt Card" in the web-browser.
It was annoucnced earlier today that the latest 1.4 BF2 patch due to be released this evening has been delayed until further notice. A spokeperson for EA/Dice said:
"The 1.4 patch will not be released today. It has been postponed. There will be no servers available until the new official release date"

The Suicide Gaming League Anti-Cheat was created to provide gamers with a fair and level playing field. It uploads game configs and screenshots directly to our webservers so that our admins can view them and pick out any suspect players. Since version 0.9.5 they have also implemented process and module scanning to detect any cheats that users are running whilst using SGLAC.
This Anti-Cheat is available on all Counterstrike, Condition Zero, Counterstrike Source, Call Of Duty 2, Quake 4 and Battlefield 2 games.
The screenshots are publically accessable and can be viewed straight after the match allowing you to check any suspect players.
We will be carrying out routine maintenance on our TeamSpeak server this afternoon (Sunday July 2nd 2006). The server will be down for half an hour betweeen 4pm & 6pm.
